Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed (1959-) was Prime Minister of Somalia from 21 December 2013 to 24 December 2014, succeeding Abdi Farah Shirdon and preceding Omar Sharmarke.
Biography[]
Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed was born in Bardera, Somalia in 1959, and he emigrated to Canada during the Somali Civil War and became a dual citizen. He was an economist before serving as Prime Minister of Somalia from 2013 to 2014, supporting efforts to stabilize the country and improve its infrastructure and international relations. He also adopted the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
