Abdi Farah Shirdon (1958-) was Prime Minister of Somalia from 17 October 2012 to 21 December 2013, succeeding Abdiweli Gaas and preceding Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed.
Biography[]
Abdi Farah Shirdon was born in Dhusamareb, Somalia in 1958, and he was raised in a middle-class family; he came to speak Somali, Italian, and English fluently. He worked as an economist and entrepreneur during Siad Barre's regime, and he moved to Nairobi, Kenya during the Somali Civil War. Shirdon later returned to Somalia to re-enter politics, serving as Prime Minister of Somalia from 2012 to 2013. He oversaw significant development in social services, the national budget, and local security before leaving office.
