Abdel Fattah Dukhan

Abdel Fattah Dukhan (1936-11 October 2023) was a Palestinian jihadist and a cofounder of Hamas.

Biography[]

Abdel Fattah Dukhan was born in Iraq Suwaydan, Palestine in 1936, and he was forced to relocate to refugee camps in the Gaza Strip during the Nakba. He graduated from Cairo University in 1961 before working as a teacher in UN schools, after which he directed several schools in the Gaza Strip until his retirement in 1996. He was imprisoned by Israel for several years due to his role in cofounding Hamas, and he was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council in 2006. He died of a long illness at the Nuseirat refugee camp in 2023; some outlets erroneously reported that he was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
