Abdel-Aziz bin Habtour (8 August 1955-) was Prime Minister of Houthi-controlled Yemen from 4 October 2016, succeeding Talal Aklan.
Biography[]
Abdel-Aziz bin Habtour was born in Ghareer, Aden Protectorate in 1955, and he went to college in Germany before serving as a prorector of the University of Aden from 1994 to 2001. He went on to serve as Ali Abdullah Saleh's Deputy Education Minister from 2001 to 2008, rector of the University of Aden from 2008 to 2014, Governor of Aden from 2014 to 2015, and Prime Minister of Houthi-controlled Yemen from 2016. He was initially an ally of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, condemning the 2014-2015 Houthi coup and opposing the South Yemeni secessionist movement; however, he formed a pro-Houthi government which included members of the Southern Movement.
