Abd ar-Razzaq al-Libi (25 May 1978-28 April 2008) was a member of al-Qaeda.

Biography[]

Abd ar-Razzaq al-Libi was born on 25 May 1978 in Derna, Libya. His birth name is Abd ar-Razzaq Hamam, but in 1996 he changed his name to a kunya ("al-Libi") and headed to Afghanistan to fight for the Taliban against the Northern Alliance and the minority groups of the country. He became a member of al-Qaeda and trained in medical specialties, and was responsible for the attempted recovery of many al-Qaedans from gunshot wounds during fighting. During the Iraq War, he made Baghdad his hideout. al-Libi was killed in a gunfight with the US Army on 28 April 2008.
