A1000

The A1000 is a 20-mile-long road which runs north from North London in Middlesex to Welwyn in Hertfordshire. It incorporates part of the main medieval route to the City of London, and a portion of the road running through Barnet, known as the Hadley Highstone, is the site of a monument to the 1471 Battle of Barnet during the Wars of the Roses. The current road was designated in 1954.
