A. C. Cuza (8 November 1857 – 3 November 1947) was a Romanian politician.
Biography[]
He was born in Iasi in Romania and studied law at the University of Paris. He also studied political science and economics.
Politically, he was influenced by Arthur de Gobineau, who believed that European civilizations were formed by a master race. He combined the beliefs of Gobineau with Eastern Orthodox Christianity, forming an anti-semitic Christian nationalism.
In 1923, he founded the National-Christian Defense League (LANC), an antisemitic political party. This party's ideology was influenced by fascism combined with Cuza's Orthodox Christian nationalism.
This party influenced Corneliu Codreanu, who was an early member of the party, who eventually split off to form the Iron Guard in 1927.
The National-Christian Defense League was later dissolved, and Cuza founded the National Christian Party with Octavian Goga. He died in 1947.
