8th Guards Combined Arms Army

The 8th Guards Combined Arms Army was a Russian Ground Forces army which was active with the Soviet Army from May 1943 to 1992 and with the Russian Army from 2017. It was formed from the Soviet 62nd Army in May 1943 following the Battle of Stalingrad, and it fought in Ukraine, Poland, and the Battle of Berlin during World War II. After the war, the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army was stationed in Nohra, East Germany, and, in 1993, the army was withdrawn to Volgograd and downsized to the corps. The army was reinstated in 2017, and it participated in the Russo-Ukrainian War.
