The 7th Virginia Infantry Regiment was a Virginian regiment of the Confederate States Army that was active from May 1861 to the spring of 1865. Raised in Giles, Madison, Rappahannock, Culpeper, Greene, Mercer, Monroe, and Albemarle counties, the regiment was attached to the Army of Northern Virginia from the Peninsula Campaign to the surrender at Appomattox, with the exception of the Siege of Suffolk. The regiment suffered 40% losses at the Battle of Gettysburg.
