The 54th Panzer Division was an armored division of the German Wehrmacht that was activated on 24 September 1939 during World War II. The 8,100-strong division consisted of the 83rd Armored Brigade and the 143rd and 144th Motorized Brigades, and Gerlach Hans Hemmerich was given command of the division, which was deployed from the reserves to Brest-Litovsk during the invasion of Poland.
