
The 4th Alabama Infantry Regiment was an Alabamian infantry regiment of the Confederate States Army that was active from May 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. Raised in Dallas, Madison, Macon, Lauderdale, Jackson, Marengo, Perry, and Conecuh counties, the regiment was attached to the Army of Northern Virginia from the Battle of Seven Pines to the Siege of Petersburg, with the exception of the Third Battle of Petersburg. The regiment suffered heavy losses at the Battle of Chancellorsville and the Battle of Gettysburg.
