On 4 January 2015, a few assailants set off an explosion that killed 5 Houthis and wounded 25 in an attack with unknown perpetrators and motives. Around the same time, an al-Qaeda assailant killed a Brigadier-General of the Yemeni Army in Shabwa Governorate.
