
The 47th Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment was a Confederate States Army regiment which was active from June 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. It served in A.P. Hill's light division of the Army of Northern Virginia, first fighting in the Peninsula Campaign of 1862. It suffered 23% losses at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863, and only 2 sergeants surrendered at Appomattox on 9 April 1865.
