46th Battalion (South Saskatchewan), CEF

The 46th Battalion (South Saskatchewan), CEF was an infantry battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force that was active from 1914 to 1920 during World War I. The battalion embarked for Britain in October 1915 and disembarked in France in August 1916, fighting in Flanders until the end of the war. The unit was nicknamed the "Suicide Battalion" for suffering 91.5% losses in 27 months, among them 1,433 killed and 3,484 wounded.
