The 3rd Canadian Division was an infantry division of the Canadian Army that was active from 1915 to 1919, from 1940 to 1946, and from 2014. Nicknamed "the Water Rats", the division fought on the Western Front of World War I before standing down, and it was reactivated in 1940, taking part in D-Day in 1944 during World War II. The division advanced into Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, fighting at the Battle of the Scheldt, and it served on occupation duty in Germany before being disbanded in 1946. The division was reactivated in 2014, continuing its previous incarnations' traditions.
