
The 3rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment was a Confederate States Army regiment from Arkansas which was active from 1861 to 1865 during the American Civil War. The 3rd Arkansas was raised in Ashley (from the towns of Portland, Berlin, Hamburg, and Latonia), Drew (Selma and Monticello), Union (Champagnolle and Three Creeks), Hot Spring (Rockport), and Dallas (Tulip) Counties from May to June 1861, and it was attached to the Army of Northern Virginia, debuting at the Battle of Seven Pines and being transferred west after the Battle of Gettysburg. The regiment went on to fight at the Battle of Chickamauga and the Knoxville Campaign, and it returned east in time for the Overland Campaign, the Siege of Petersburg, and the Appomattox Campaign, ending the war with 617 men out of a total of 5,353.
