The 39th Guards Motor Rifle Division was a mechanized infantry division of the Soviet Army that was active from 1965 to 1992. The division was formed in September 1942 during World War II and defended the Red October steelworks during the Battle of Stalingrad before fighting in Ukraine, Poland, and at the Battle of Berlin. After the war, the division was stationed in East Germany. It was disbanded after a temporary relocation to Bila Tserkva in Ukraine in 1992.
