The 38th Tennessee Infantry Regiment was a Confederate States Army regiment which was active from September 1861 to 26 April 1865 during the American Civil War. It was recruited in Shelby, Madison, and Wilson Counties, and it notably fought at the Battle of Shiloh, the Battle of Perryville, the Battle of Stones River (where it lost 30% of its strength), the Atlanta Campaign, and the Battle of Chickamauga. Only a handful survived to surrender in North Carolina in 1865.
