The 36th Virginia Infantry was a Confederate States Army infantry regiment which was active from July 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. It fought mostly in West Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky under the command of Colonel John McCausland, and it disbanded in April 1865, having suffered heavy losses at the Battle of Opequon the year before.
