The 33rd Virginia Infantry Regiment was a Virginian regiment of the Confederate States Army that was active from 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. Raised in Shenandoah, Frederick, Hampshire, Hardy, Page, and Rockingham counties in the Shenandoah Valley (Hampshire and Hardy being located in present-day West Virginia), the regiment debuted at the First Battle of Bull Run and fought in Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign before being attached to the Army of Northern Virginia from the Seven Days Battles to the Overland Campaign, fighting in the Valley Campaigns of 1864 before surrendering at Appomattox in April 1865. The regiment had effectively been destroyed at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, and its remnants formed a consolidated brigade for Jubal Early's Valley campaigns and the last battles of the war.
