The 31 October 2023 Houthi drone attack on Israel occurred on 31 October 2023 when the Houthi militant group in Yemen sent drones towards southern Israel in an attempted drone attack on the city of Eilat.
A day after clashing with the Saudi Arabian Army, Yemen's Houthis launched a new wave of drones against Israel. Yemeni prime minister Abdelaziz bin Habtour claimed "These drones belong to the state of Yemen," and that the drone attacks were "retaliation" for the war in Gaza. The Israeli military shot down an approaching aerial target outside Israeli airspace, over the Red Sea, having identified a hostile aircraft intrusion. Local media reports suggested that the drone came from northern Yemen, causing concern that Iran's proxies in Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq might escalate their campaigns against Israeli and American targets and allies. Later in the day, Israel reported that it had intercepted three surface-to-surface missiles launched from Yemen, with at least one missile being shot down by its Arrow missile defense system.
