Red Army

The 2nd Ukrainian Front was a Soviet Red Army formation which existed from 20 October 1943 to 10 June 1945, originating with the Steppe Front. The new front, led by Ivan Konev, was composed of a tank army, two guards armies, four armies, two tank corps, and a cavalry corps. The front would take part in the offensive into the Balkans under Rodion Malinovsky, and it drove through Hungary before ending the war in Czechoslovakia. On 10 June 1945, the front was disbanded by the Stavka.
