2nd Maryland Infantry CSA

The 2nd Maryland Infantry was a Confederate States Army regiment which was active from 1862 to 1865 during the American Civil War. It was formed from Maryland secessionists who continued to serve the Confederacy after their previous regiment, the 1st Maryland Infantry, CSA was mustered out, as they refused to return to their Union-occupied home state. The regiment suffered heavy losses at Culp's Hill at the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg, and it ended the war with just 40 men remaining.
