The 28th North Carolina Infantry Regiment was a North Carolinian infantry regiment of the Confederate States Army that was active from September 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. Raised in Surry, Gaston, Catawba, Stanley, Montgomery, Yadkin, Orange, and Cleveland counties, the regiment was attached to the Army of Northern Virginia from the Battle of Hanover Court House to the Appomattox campaign, suffering 33% casualties at the Seven Days Battles and 40% casualties at the Battle of Gettysburg.
