The 24th Michigan Infantry Regiment was a Union Army infantry regiment from Michigan which was active from 15 August 1862 to 30 June 1865 during the American Civil War. The regiment was organized at Detroit, Michigan, and it was assigned to the Iron Brigade of the Army of the Potomac. The regiment was raised to bolster the depleted ranks of the Iron Brigade, but, at the Battle of Gettysburg, of 496 officers and men, 89 were killed, 218 wounded, and 56 captured (363 total losses, including all of the color guard). The regiment went on to participate in all of the Army of the Potomac's ensuing major battles, and it was selected as an escort at Abraham Lincoln's funeral in 1865. It was mustered out in June 1865.
