2018 Strasbourg attack

The 2018 Strasbourg attack occurred on 11 December 2018 when Islamic State sympathizer Cherif Chekatt killed 3 and injured 12 in a mass shooting at the Christkindelsmarik Christmas market in Strasbourg, France. At 7:50 PM, Chekatt went through the Rue des Orfevres and began a ten-minute mass shooting in the Christmas market, crying "Allahu Akbar" as he shot at the crowd. He also exchanged fire with French Army soldiers and policemen, and he was shot in the arm. Chekatt then escaped in a taxi cab, bragging to the driver that he had killed people, and that he had a grenade at home. 350 French security forces personnel were sent on a manhunt for Chekatt, supported by air units.
