The 2018 Mazatlan shootout occurred in Sinaloa in 2018 during the Mexican Drug War. The Mexican Federal Police was sent from Sonora to crack down on the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in Sinaloa, so the CJNG trucked 250 gunmen north to eliminate the police presence in Mazatlan. The ensuing shootout left 110 cartel gunmen and all of the police dead, and the CJNG recaptured Sinaloa and seized $130,000.
