The 2018 Danghara attack occurred on 29 July 2018 when four Islamic State sympathizers launched a vehicle ramming and stabbing attack against Western cycling tourists in the Danghara district of Tajikistan, killing 4 and wounding 2. Hussein Abdusamadov, Zafarjon Safarov, Asomiddin Madzhidov, Jafariddin Yusupov, and Asliddin Yusupov used a Daewoo sedan to ram into a group of seven Western cyclists as they biked down the scenic Kulyab-Dushanbe highway, and they then got out of the car and used knives and an axe to attack the cyclists. Four were killed and two were injured, with the seventh cyclist, a Frenchman who had fallen behind the group, remained unharmed. On 30 July, Tajik police arrested Abusamadov (the ringleader) and killed the other four suspects after they resisted arrest. Later, the Islamic State released a video showing the attackers pledging allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi before their "martyrdom operation".
