The 2017 Turku attack occurred on 18 August 2017 when the Moroccan asylum seeker Abderrahman Bouanane stabbed 10 people in central Turku, southwest Finland, killing 2 people and wounding. From 4:02 to 4:05 PM, Bouanane, armed with two IKEA kitchen knives, attacked people at the Turku Market Square. He was immobilized by a shot to the thigh and with a taser, and he was captured by police. He was motivated to attack the Finns by the West's air campaign against Raqqa during the Syrian Civil War.
