The 2017 Delicias shootout occurred in Delicias, Chihuahua in 2017 amid the Mexican Drug War. The Jalisco New Generation Cartel began a brazen series of direct confrontations with the Mexican Federal Police in 2017, hoping to eliminate the law's presence in Mexico's states and ensure that Mexico could become a full narco-state. The CJNG sent 530 gunmen from Coahuila to take over Chihuahua from the Federales, resulting in a shootout with the 320 Federales in the city of Delicias. The ensuing shootout left 390 Jaliscans and all 120 Federales dead, allowing for the CJNG to take control of Chihuahua.
