The 2015 San Bernardino attack occurred on 2 December 2015 when the married Islamic State sympathizers Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik killed 14 people and wounded 22 others in a mass shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California. The Redlands couple targeted a Department of Health training event and Christmas party of about 80 employees in a rented banquet room, and they fled in a rented SUV after the shooting. Four hours later, the police pursued their vehicle and killed them in a shootout in which two officers were injured. Muslim convert Enrique Marquez was later arrested for buying the AR-15s used in the attack.
