The 2015 Jabal Mohsen suicide attacks was a terrorist attack carried out by the al-Nusra Front against a cafe in Tripoli, Lebanon on 10 January 2015. 9 people were killed and 48 were wounded in an attack on the predominantly-Shia Jabal Mohsen district. The attack was claimed by the al-Nusra affiliate of al-Qaeda in response to a bombing of Sunni mosques that was blamed on Alawites.
History[]
al-Qaeda's Al-Nusra Front branch planned a bomb attack against the Jabal Mohsen neighborhood of the city of Tripoli, Lebanon, a predominantly-Alawite Shi'ite area, claiming that it was revenge for the Sunnis in Syria and Lebanon and a mosque bombing. A suicide bomber detonated his explosives, causing people to be scared. When they gathered around the scene to find out what happened, a second suicide bomber arrived. The 60-year-old Issa Khaddour rushed the bomber and tackled him before he blew himself up, saving the lives of some other Alawites targeted in the attack. 9 people were killed and 48 wounded in the bombings.
