The 2008 Skyway Diner shootout occurred during the summer of 2008 when The Lost MC and the Angels of Death motorcycle gangs engaged in a shootout at the Skyway Diner parking lot in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The incident left five Angels of Death bikers dead, and all of the bikers' motorcycles were stolen by The Lost.
Shootout[]
On one summer afternoon in 2008, The Lost MC bikers Johnny Klebitz and Jim Fitzgerald met up in Jersey City, New Jersey, where they talked about stealing some bikes from the Angels of Death in order to sell them to motorcycle exporter Quandell Jacobs; Jacobs wanted to export the bikes to Japan, where they were in high demand. The two of them took a large truck to Elizabeth, New Jersey, parking in the parking lot of the Skyway Diner, the headquarters of the Angels of Death's New Jersey chapter. The two men proceeded to steal two motorcycles before the Angels of Death bikers in the restaurant noticed them, and the AOD bikers left the restaurant and began shooting at The Lost bikers. Klebitz called Terry Thorpe and had him and Clay Simons come to the parking lot as reinforcements, and the four Lost MC bikers engaged in a five-minute shootout with the Angels of Death bikers. All of the AOD bikers were killed, and Simons and Thorpe left as Klebitz loaded the other three motorcycles onto the truck. The truck was successfully delivered to Jacobs, although police officers Ed McCornish and Jimmy Matthews told Klebitz and Fitzgerald that they had witnessed the bike theft, blackmailing them. This would lead to the 2008 South Kearny police ambush, during which the policemen and many other cops were killed in a Lost MC amush.
