
The 1st Georgia Infantry Regiment was a Georgian infantry regiment of the Confederate States Army that was active from April 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. The regiment was organized prior to the war from the Savannah militia, and also from the men of Quitman, De Kalb, Oglethorpe, Washington, and Tattnall counties. The regiment was attached to the Army of Northern Virginia from the Seven Days Battles to the Battle of Fredericksburg, after which it fought at the Battle of Olustee in Florida and in the Carolinas campaign, surrendering after the Battle of Bentonville.
