The 1st Belorussian Front was a Soviet Red Army front which existed from 20 October 1943 to 1945, being led by Konstantin Rokossovsky from October 1943 to November 1944 and by Georgy Zhukov from November 1944 to June 1945. The front took part in the counterattacks against Nazi Germany in Belarus, Poland, East Prussia, and in northern Germany, with Zhukov leading the front during the Battle of Berlin in World War II. The front became the main Soviet occupation force in East Germany after the war's end.
