Balmoral Furniture Company

The 1971 Balmoral Furniture Company bombing occurred at 12:25 PM on 11 December 1971 when the Provisional IRA bombed a furniture showroom in Belfast, Northern Ireland in revenge for the McGurk's Bar bombing on 4 December. The attack targeted Protestant Ulster Scots on the crowded Shankill Road, killing 4 and injuring 19. Many Protestants joined the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) paramilitary in response to the bombing, hoping to fight back against the Catholic IRA and "protect the rights of Protestants" in the region.
