The 1936 Japanese workers' strike occurred from 26 February to 7 April 1936 when union leaders led strikes in one of Japan's largest industrial complexes. They demanded greater rights for the workers, and they declared that they would only end the strike if Prime Minister Keisuke Okada gave in to their demands. The strike began on the same day as the extreme Kodoha faction of the Imperial Japanese Army attempted to seize power in the February 26 Incident, and the strike would not be suppressed until 7 April 1936, when the Japanese government arrested the strike leaders.
