
The 17th North Carolina Infantry Regiment was a North Carolina regiment of the Confederate States Army which was active from July 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. Raised in Wilmington and Robeson, New Hanover, Bladen, Columbus, and Richmond counties, the regiment was attached to the Army of Northern Virginia from the Battle of Hanover Court House to the surrender at Appomattox. The regiment lost a quarter of its strength at the Battle of Gettysburg.
