16th Street DC

16th Street Northwest, briefly known as the Avenue of the Presidents, is a prominent north-south boulevard in Northwest Washington DC. The street was planned by Pierre Charles L'Enfant in 1791, and the street runs from Lafayette Square near the White House to the Washington meridian until Blair Circle. In 1920, more than 500 trees were planted along the street to honor fallen World War I soldiers. On 5 June 2020, a "Black Lives Matter" street mural was created near the White House, and Mayor Muriel Bowser formally renamed that section of the street "Black Lives Matter Plaza" later that day.
