The 16th North Carolina Infantry Regiment was a North Carolina regiment of the Confederate States Army which was active from June 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. Raised in Jackson, Madison, Yancey, Rutherford, Burke, Buncombe, Macon, Henderson, and Polk counties, the 16th served in the Army of Northern Virginia from the Battle of Seven Pines to the surrender at Appomattox. The regiment suffered 37% losses at the Battle of Gettysburg.
