14th Street is a street in Washington DC located 1.25 miles west of the US Capitol. The street was home to several car dealerships during the mid-20th century, and it was the site of the 1968 Washington DC riots following Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination. During the 1970s and 1980s, 14th Street became a hub of massage parlors, strip clubs, and prostitution, but the gentrification of the area transformed it into a street lined with theatres, art galleries, and trendy restaurants.
