
The 13th North Carolina Infantry Regiment was a North Carolina regiment of the Confederate States Army which was active from May 1861 to April 1865 during the American Civil War. Raised in Caswell, Mecklenburg, Davie, Edgecombe, and Rockingham Counties, the 13th North Carolina was attached to the Army of Northern Virginia from the Peninsula Campaign to the Battle of Cold Harbor, suffering heavy losses at the Battle of Chancellorsville and 75% losses at the Battle of Gettysburg. The regiment fought at the Siege of Petersburg before ending the war at Appomattox, where 22 officers and 193 men surrendered to the Union Army.
