
The 12th Louisiana Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment of the Confederate States Army that was active from 1861 to 1865 during the American Civil War. Raised in DeSoto, Bienville, Winn, Union, Morehouse, Claiborne, Jackson, Caldwell, and Natchitoches parishes, the regiment fought in the Corinth and Vicksburg campaigns before being captured at the Siege of Vicksburg. The regiment later fought in the Meridian campaign, the Atlanta campaign, and the Franklin-Nashville campaign, suffering heavy losses at the Battle of Peachtree Creek and the Battle of Franklin before surrendering after the Battle of Bentonville.
