The 10 SAD Air Base attack occurred on 22 June 1941 at the start of Operation Barbarossa, when the German Luftflotte 2 launched a surprise attack on the 10 SAD Air Base to the west of Pruzhany in the Byelorussian SSR. Luftflotte 2, operating from the 6th LW Air Base in Siedlce, launched a day raid on the Soviet Air Force hangars at the 10 SAD Air Base, catching the Soviets by surprise. 251 Soviet planes were destroyed in the raid, with 235 of the planes being destroyed on the ground by the German bombers. The attack crippled the Soviet air defense capabilities, as their airbase guarding Brest-Litovsk was annihilated.
