"Cowboy" Bob Smith (2 January 1950-) was an American businessman, monster truck driver, motorsports owner, cowboy, actor, and vigilante from Blaine County, California.
History[]
Smith was a Vietnam War veteran, who was 6'1'' at the age of 14 in 1964, when he enlisted in the army along with his brothers, who were all not of legal age to enlist in the army, but due to his father's political connections, he was able to join. He was a professional stock car driver, starting in 1964, as a substitute for his father, who broke his arm, and he still drives to this day. Smith also built his first Monster Truck in 1974, which he turned into a Monster Truck in 1979, and campaigns at the highest levels to this day, taking over Redneck Motorsports that year, that was founded by his father in 1944, which competes in every motorsports competition that exists. Smith also runs the Paleto Bay 4-Wheel Drive Performance Center. that specializes in repairing, selling parts for, and building 4 wheel drive & offroad vehicles. In 2024, Bob Smith will run his farewell tour as a driver in monster trucks for 45/50 years, and in every motorsports after 60 years, due to his age, war wounds, and health; and despite passing the driving duties to his family members like his brother George Marlin, Smith will still be involved with the team, and will still drive, but no longer in competition. Smith was told that he should retire due to his health and age by his cousin and family doctor, Ben, who bluntly told him that "if you want to see your great-grandchildren, then you'll retire soon". On December 31st, 2024, "Cowboy" Bob Smith retired from racing in motorsports after 60 years of competition at the age iof 74, 2 days before his 75th birthday. His last time competing was in his monster truck "The Marshall" for his monster truck league "The Wild West Monster Truck Tour" which is owned by his company "Redneck Motorsports". Smith won both the racing and freestyle competitions, along with the wheelie competition earlier that day, and ended the night with a special 50th Anniversary encore that honored his 50 years in the industry, with the Marshall officially being made into a monster truck way back in 1979. His current chassis debuted in 1994, and Smith ran it for 30 years, Smith went out a winner and a champion in every monster truck promotion and league, as well as in every form of motorsports in 2024. Though his driving days are over, his family, and grandchildren will take over the competition duties, while Bob Smith runs the company, though he plans to do one last ride in 2029 when he is 79 years old.
He was a child actor and a Hollywood stuntman, who was acting in films and television since he was a baby, mostly westerns. Smith is affiliated with the Rednecks of Blaine County, with whom he primarily does business with. He is also distantly related to Trevor Philips, whose company, Trevor Philips Enterprises he has also done business with.
He claims to be related to Michael De Santa, but refused to do a DNA test. "Cowboy" Bob Smith is the great-great-grandson of "Lakota" Bob Smith. He is a staunch Republican voter, who supported the Republican Party candidate Donald Trump for President in the 2016, 2020 and 2024 Presidential elections. He is brothers with both John Marlin and George Marlin.
